This Week I've Been Loving...

Okay. My obsession with Yuna is getting worse by the day. Her beautiful voice is a mixture of Christina Perri and Coeur de Pirate. Sound odd? There's really no way to quantify how she can effortlessly switch from deep, raspy, seductive loveliness to poppy but not sugary sweet. Her album Nocturnal has a permanent spot on my constantly rotating favorites list, the best songs being Falling, Mountains, and Lovely Intermission. 

Also in music, ich liebe Christina Perri's new album. Run will definitely be played a lot in the next while, along with Burning Golden. I've only owned it for a few days, but a great first impression for someone who wasn't particularly impressed by her first effort.

Game of Thrones. Game of Thrones. How on earth did I miss the amazingness that is A Song of Ice and Fire until a month ago? Come to think of it, that's probably what caused my disappearance recently. Too busy devouring seasons 1-3 and five monstrous books. Done with both now, and crazy excited for the rest of season 4. Any other Littlefinger fans out there?

Beauty has been kind of meh in my world of late. *gasp*. I know. Though... the NYX Infinite Shadow Sticks are all kinds of awesome. I've worn the shade Flushed every day this week. You literally just smear it on the lid, blend quickly with your finger, and they don't crease. Eyeshadows always crease on me. These are magic.

Uh, so yeah. Not feeling particularly eloquent today.

This Week I'm Loving...

Like the header? My posts are too many words and not enough graphics, so I'm attempting to remedy that :)

I've been feeling goth this week, so my picks are a bit darker than usual. Without further ado, my weekly favourites are...

Fight Like A Girl- Emilie Autumn. My best friend has officially converted me into a Plague Rat. I absolutely love this song, and the rest of the album is excellent, too. A bit macabre, though, no denying.

Another excellent song would have to be Adieu by Coeur de Pirate. I adore her ethereal voice and the bubbly sound of her records. Even those who don't speak French would have to like it.

I *embarrassed cough* didn't read any books this week. *Hangs head in shame*

My favourite beauty product right now would have to be the Revlon Lip Gloss in Orchid. It's a pretty sheer lilac gloss. Fun fact: purple toned lip products minimize redness on the face.

To my dog lovers: Aren't they better than cats? My friend and I have been arguing about that. He says dogs should be exterminated.  >:(

This Week I'm Loving...

Since I'm back, why not resume my This Week I'm Loving... posts? They're an easy way to share what I've been up to as far as my book, music, and beauty favorites.

Music:

Sentimental Journey- Emmy Rossum. A great assemblage of classics spanning from the '20's to the '60's, all remade wonderfully with Emmy's gorgeous voice.

The Blessed Unrest- Sara Bareilles. Sara brings her signature wit and vivid imagery to another album. My favorite is Hercules. The harmony in the bridge is amazing.

Volume 3- She and Him. This is my personal love from She and Him. It grabs you from I've Got Your Number, Son all the way to the end.

Books:

No Easy Way Out- Dayna Lorentz. Sequel to No Safety in Numbers, it doesn't live up to the standards set by the first, and drags on quite a bit. Nevertheless, a good read with a unique concept.

Beauty:

Rimmel Apocalips in Celestial. A pretty dusty berry color that is opaque in one swipe, lasts forever, and garners compliments. One complaint? It smells horrid!

I'm back, with another This Week I'm... 

MUSIC:

This week I'm loving...

Revolution- Miranda Lambert, a popular country album from a few years back, my personal favorite tracks are White Liar, Maintain The Pain, and Somewhere Trouble Don't Go

Alright, Still- Lily Allen, full of wonderful tracks with purely acidic lyrics. Its 2006 hit Smile is one of the best songs, but Everything's Just Wonderful, Alfie, and Friday Night are all pretty great too.

BOOKS:

I must admit, the only books I've read this week are more of the alphabet series, I'm through I is for Innocent. I'd still recommend those, but I haven't branched out recently.

BEAUTY:

My surprise of the week as far as beauty is concerned are definitely the Maybelline Baby Lips Electro! Whilst I hated the previous iteration, these are quite wonderful! The pigmentation is excellent, and I find them more moisturizing as well. I'd definitely say pick one up at three dollars.

This Week I'm... #1

It's Wednesday. This is not an ordinary Wednesday, though, for today I start posting again. I think something fun to do is tell y'all what I'm loving this week. So, let's get started.

MUSIC:

Recently I've been obsessed with all things Emmy Rossum. I mean, what's not to love? She's gorgeous, an amazing singer and actress, plus she's so sweet! I've been adoring her debut album, Inside Out. It's so laid back and dreamy sounding, perfect for listening to in summer. 

As far as anything not Emmy, I've been shuffling through my (considerable) music library and rediscovering things I loved a few years ago. Topping the list as far as albums go:

Heroes and Thieves- Vanessa Carlton (all of her songs are wonderful)

Jagged Little Pill- Alanis Morissette (does this one even need an introduction?)

Made of Bricks- Kate Nash (a wickedly brilliant lyricist- must listen to for fans of Lilly Allen)

BOOKS:

E is For Evidence- Sue Grafton. I've been reading my way through the series, so far loving all of them. But then, I'm a mystery fan.

Bitterblue- Kristin Cashore. A sequel to Graceling, this is actually my personal favorite of the series. I love how it reads almost like a mystery, while maintaining the storyline from Graceling and Fire.

Dark Inside- Jeyn Roberts. An oft-overlooked apocalyptic tale with a unique storyline that takes the "humans destroy themselves" storyline to a new level. More thought-provoking than one might think.

BEAUTY:

My no.1 favorite this week as far as makeup is concerned is without a doubt the ELF mineral infused mascara. While I'm iffy on the fancy mineral claims, the fact remains that this is an excellent mascara. It defines, lengthens and volumizes. For three dollars? Yes, please.
